What does Amber have to live for? Lying in bed day after watching her parents struggle to take care of her, without giving themselves a moment. Even if she goes completely deaf and blind, she would be able to sense how people feel around her. She has survived at least a year more than most with ITS, but that’s a year more of suffering and feeling a burden to people who love and care about you. I’m sure if Amber could speak to her parents, she would ask to be released from all the pain. No one would want to live if their life was slowly killing some else’s. She should be allowed to die with some dignity, if there is ever any dignity in death

Well Rizmyn, I must agree with you to some extent at least.. If she knew she had no future and that she would die a miserable death without assistance, she would want to be off the life support. I can also understand the parents’ plight.. They wouldn’t want to put their darling daughter to sleep. Euthanasia has always been argued about. If there is no hope, and if it lessens the burden for the sufferer, he/she deserves to die. But Amber is a baby.. She wouldn’t be able to decide for herself if she wants to die.. And that is why they will have to fight it out at the court.

Amber may be a baby but she is a baby who can feel pain, shame and embarrassment. Even children who are four and five years old can become clinically depressed and attempt suicide. More so than adults because children at that age do not understand that death is final and believe it is only a way of ending their suffering. They think they would be reborn, happy and healthy. Amber’s parents have no right to make her suffer just to fulfill their selfish desires and hopes that their child who carries their genes is not going to be around to get a great job, marry a wonderful boy and produce a bunch of beautiful grandchildren.

I dunno.. Its so difficult to say anything at a situation like this. I hope she gets to sleep soon, and not suffer in a hospital with all the barbaric doctors and nurses and medical ’professionals’.. And when she takes her last breath, she must, in her warm room......

Thats a touching story.
But we are here to live and never loose hope. Life is precious even if it is lying on a hospital bed. Miracles can happen. hope for the best!

Yes Manoj nobody must lose hope, but the girl has no chance of living.. Every minute of her life is a misery for her. I really do hope she gets a second chance. But miracles don’t happen! Its a tough world..
However I must say the docs have no right to decide if she must die, though she would be better off dead
